Ideas for Celebrating TSA Week

Invite a speaker from a local STEM business to talk to your chapter about their work in the field

Register for the Verizon Innovative App Challenge if you have not already done so and work on your entry with your team

Visit a local elementary school and do a STEM activity with a class (check out Pinterest for some fun and grade-appropriate ideas)

If you are part of a high school chapter, set up a meeting with a local middle school chapter to share ideas, get to know each other, and participate in a Q&A session

If you are part of a middle school chapter, set up a meeting with a local high school chapter to share ideas, get to know each other, and participate in a Q&A session

Wear TSA t-shirts and other swag throughout the week to promote your chapter

Show your advisor how much your chapter appreciates them – give them a thank-you card signed by everyone in your chapter; bake them a cake; or give them a special shout-out during your school’s morning announcements

Make a promotional video for your TSA chapter (good practice for On Demand Video!)

Nominate a deserving chapter member to be a featured member on the national TSA website (email Meg Honour at mhonour@tsaweb.org with your nomination). In your email please include:

  • 250-500 words describing why this person deserves to be a featured member

  • Number of years the nominee has been a part of TSA
  • How they have positively influenced your TSA chapter

Do a canned food drive throughout national TSA week and donate everything you collect to a local organization benefiting those in need

Set up a STEM movie night with your chapter (see movie list below). Afterwards, have a discussion with your chapter and ask the following questions:

  • What did I like about this movie? Why?
  • What did I not like? Why?
  • What was accurate/inaccurate?
  • What could have been done to change any inaccuracies?
  • Was this movie successful in representing science, technology, engineering, and math? Why or why not?
